Desé

He tornat, però no per a massa temps!
Hola, com esteu? Us he trobat a faltar :) Perdoneu que estiga tan desconnectada últimament, són moltes coses alhora.

I'm back, but not for good.
Hi, how are you? I missed you :) I apologize for being so disconnected lately, I have many things at a time. But no more excuses, let's go to the point!
Yesterday we celebrated parliamentary elections, and most of the citizens have the opinion that nothing will change. Maybe more rights will be stolen to us and our politicians will keep on cheating us behind economical pretexts. We see everything so dark.
I have a clear point of view on how can we make things change, even though after almost half a year in the streets some still close their ears to our demands. Going out on the streets and showing our outrage, fighting for what we want.
I remember the first time I was at a general assembly. It was in May, a few days after the great demonstration on the 15th. After taking a walk around the square, reading banners, signing demands, talking with people we didn't know before and participating in small debate circles, then the time for the general assembly came. Every intervertion on the open microphone session gave me gooseflesh, and excitement tears came without noticing. We'd finally stopped fixing the world every afternoon in cafes and small groups of friends.
There was the 15th of May, the collective reflection in the squares on the 21st, pacific civile disobedience, square camps -clean and incredibly well organised, there were even vegetable gardens and orchards in there-, the outrageous marches that went all over Spain, town by town, towards Madrid to spread the message and open everyone who was interested's eyes, the arrival demonstration to Madrid on the 19th of  June, neighborhood and local assemblies every week, all Summer working. Everyone thought we'd died, but we were on the squares preparing the great day: October 15th. I'd never seen so many people on the street. And again excitement tears, gazing at the streets of València, watching in the big screen people put on the square the demonstrations and concentrations all around the world, raising our hands together.
Altruism, goodness, eagerness to share, strength for work, humility inside a hierarchical structure, pacifism, ecologism, tolerance. These are our values, and they caused we're still here.
This Saturday I have to elaborate an activity for my girls in júniors -sort of scouts, I'm a monitor- on how to change the world. I think this is a way to change our society's moral values and try to improve our political and economical system. But I'd like to know your opinion:
How can we change the world?

  2. mar, how much time have we got, to change the world for the better. reading your exposé here, remembering the uproars from spain on the news, adding to these uproar in other parts of the world... the exploiting system is being attacked, for sure, and i fear, to no avail. by which i don't mean these revolutionary outbursts should cease, far from it.
the hardest battle is the one against power, installed by money. we will always fight that one, and money will more often than not, win. it reminds me of the fable, "le corbeau et le renard", the crow and fox. might i add a translated poem concerning the matter? (actually, because i like it a lot too)

    The Crow and the Fox
    At the top of a tree perched Master Crow;
In his beak he was holding a cheese.
Drawn by the smell, Master Fox spoke, below.
The words, more or less, were these:
"Hey, now, Sir Crow! Good day, good day!
How very handsome you do look, how grandly distingué!
No lie, if those songs you sing
Match the plumage of your wing,
You’re the phoenix of these woods, our choice."
Hearing this, the Crow was all rapture and wonder.
To show off his handsome voice,
He opened beak wide and let go of his plunder.
The Fox snapped it up and then said, "My Good Sir,
    Learn that each flatterer
Lives at the cost of those who heed.
This lesson is well worth the cheese, indeed."
    The Crow, ashamed and sick,
Swore, a bit late, not to fall again for that trick.

we have been seduced by power (i'm generalizing here, i don't mean to say the situation in spain is by any means comfortable for everybody, as in other countries, for that matter), we have been led to believe things would improve. none of it. we open our beaks to shout, and we are being well cut for it, because on top of our naieve belief, we are losing our cheese...

    it's a sad fable, in a way.
    as a child i couldn't believe the crow's dumbness.
nowadays i understand we're being lied to, by power and money. we are not dumb at all. we are clever, probably too clever. and they will try to keep us schtumm by taking from us, what is left of us.
    it's the same thing.

i have no answer. but we must keep on fighting, and believing in change for the better.

how did the workshop with the girls go, mar?
